About National Museums Northern Ireland
The National Museums and Galleries of Northern Ireland, was established under the Museums and Galleries (Northern Ireland) Order on 1 April, 1998.
The National Museums and Galleries of Northern Ireland include the Ulster Museum with Armagh Museum, the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum and the Ulster American Folk Park. W5 at Odyssey is a wholly owned subsidiary of The National Museums and Galleries of Northern Ireland.
Legislation requires The National Museums and Galleries of Northern Ireland's Board of Trustees to
- Care for, preserve and add to the collections
- Secure that the collections are exhibited to the public
- Secure that the significance of the collections is interpreted
- Promote the awareness, appreciation and understanding of the public in relation to art, history and science, to the culture and way of life of the people and to the migration and settlement of people.
